Healthcare for residents of Lewisham

NHS 111

This is the non-emergency NHS number which can provide information and advice in non-life-threatening situations.

It is a free number to call from all landlines and mobile phones and they are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The service is available in many different languages including BSL.

You can call 111 if:

• you need medical help fast but it's not a 999 emergency

• you think you may need to go to A&E or need another NHS urgent care service

• you don't know who to call or you don't have a GP to call

• you need health information or reassurance about what to do next

NHS 111 is staffed by highly trained advisors who will ask you a series of questions to assess your symptoms and then direct you towards the correct service. This may be A&E, an urgent care centre, an out-of-hours doctor, a community nurse or a pharmacy.
